Neutron guide beam lines at spallation neutron sources
Beam line -MARI @ ISIS (2016)
The neutron guide project for the STFC instrument MARI at the ISIS target station 1 required a modern focusing supermirror neutron guide. The new guide will contribute to bosst the performance of MARI, in particular at thermal neutron energies. SwissNeutronics was awarded the contract to design, fabricate, test, deliver and install the neutron guide with its vacuum enclosures; a contiuation of the succesful realization of the new TOSCA guide in 2016.

Customer feedback (11-Aug-2016):
Hi Christian
I am writing to thank you and your team for all your hard work and efforts in delivering and installing the MARI guide, once again everything has gone like clockwork, from placing the order through design and manufacture to installation by Dominik.
We are now facing the task of completing the build and look forward to opening the shutter and realising the gains we are expecting.
A special mention for Dominik Hohl who has helped us once again to overcome some issues with our installation of Insert guide section-2 his professionalism and experience meant that we could quickly resolve these issues and press on with installation keeping project on schedule.
Beam line -TOSCA @ ISIS (2016)
The neutron guide upgrade for the STFC instruments TOSCA at the ISIS target station 1 required a modern focusing neutron guide utilizing state-of-the-art supermirror up to an m-value of seven. The new guide provides a significant gain neutron flux thus reducing counting time and enabling new applications of T0F-techniques using high neutron energies. Ten sections comprising the tapered supermirror guide elements and massive steel jackets were designed, fabricated, tested and delivered to STFC. The design of the guide sections is characterised by an elaborate integration of absorbing elements as desired by STFC. SwissNeutronics developed the design considering all desired features and maintaining the precision alignment system. All components were delivered according the schedule of the contract. The installation was accomplished in Summer of 2016.

Customer feedback (5-Aug-2016):
Hi Christian
I thought I should you know that the installation of the TOSCA guide is complete and that we all are very pleased with both the quality of the equipment and especially the professionalism of your Installation team, Dominik and Nico, worked very hard to ensure that everything was done before they ledt site.
...
Both of these guys are a credit to your organisation, I hope you will thank them again on my behalf, oh! and tell them the Vacuum test we performed overnight was a sucess attaining a leak rate of less than 5e-8mbar/l/s which is as good as parts of the ISIS synchrotron.
MR beamline -CSNS (2016)
The Multifunctional Reflectometer (MR)at the Chinese spallation neutron source (CSNS) is a world-class instrument for specular and off-specular reflectometry. A key component for this purpose is the neutron guide system providing a high neutron flux to the sample and suppressing the background. SwissNeutronics was awarded the contract to design, fabricate, test, deliver and install the neutron guide with its vacuum enclosures.

BL09 PowderDiff elliptic guide - JPARC (2011)
SwissNeutronics is one of the major providers of neutron guides for the Japanese spallation source J-Parc at JAEA in Tokai. We do busniness with our Japanese customers since more than 16 years. As one of the projects SwissNeutronics manufactured and delivered the 40 m long elliptic neutron guide for the powder diffractometer BL09 @ JPARC.
